Betty Greve Allured, 96, of Sonora, California, passed away on August 31, 2026. Born in Pine Grove on August 17, 1930, to Charles Alden and Eileen Truett Greve, Betty lived a life defined by love of family, dedication to public service, and a vibrant optimism. She grew up in the small town of Mokelumne Hill, California, later marrying and moving to the Bay Area.

For 66 years, Betty was the cherished wife of Robert Taber Allured until his passing in 2014. Together, they raised their family in San Mateo and Lafayette before building a home and making lasting memories in Sonora.

Betty was a woman of intellect and purpose. In 1963, she pursued higher education, earning degrees from UC Berkeley and CSU Hayward, culminating in a Master of Arts in Social Work. She dedicated 38 years to Contra Costa County Child Protective Services as both a social worker and supervisor, protecting and advocating for vulnerable children. After retiring, she helped shape the next generation of social workers by writing curriculum and mentoring students for CSU Fresno.  She also served her community through her services to Tuolumne General Hospital as well as the local VNA program.

Her generous spirit shone through her community involvement with Hospice of Tuolumne County and the Friends of the Library. Sharp, curious, and blessed with an unshakably positive attitude that fueled her long and full life, Betty loved nothing more than diving into family genealogy, getting lost in a good book, and spending time with her large, loving family and her faithful companion, her Havanese dog, Baby Doll.

Betty is survived by her three children, Yvonne (William) Morse, James (Carolyn) Allured, and Charles (Denise) Allured; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; her cousin Penny (Jim) Hartman; seven nieces; three nephews; and a wide circle of extended family and friends.

Her strength, bright spirit, and gentle presence leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of those she touched.

In remembrance of Betty, the family welcomes memorial contributions to the local Friends of Animal Community (FOAC), a cause that was close to her heart.
