Lawmaker: PUC Should be Elected

A legislative committee will take up a proposed constitutional amendment today that would make the Public Utilities Commission an elected body.
The five-member PUC is appointed by the governor now. But the proposal by Republican state Senator Jim Battin would create a seven-member panel that would be elected by districts.
