Budget Negotiations Continue, Lawmakers Farther Apart

The gap between Democrats and Republicans over the state budget appears to have widened. Lawmakers will meet again today to try to shape a budget deal that has enough support to clear the Legislature.
Legislators have until this weekend to meet a constitutional deadline to adopt a state spending plan.
Republicans have proposed deep cuts and borrowing, while Democrats say higher taxes have to be in the mix. Republicans say they won´t go along with that.
