Bustamante to Give Millions to Fight Prop. 54
Sponsored by:
Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante will use millions of dollars in donations to his 2002 campaign to fight Proposition 54. Bustamante had planned to use the $3.8 million he got from unions and Indian tribes to support his current bid for governor.
Though the action may be legal, critics have said it´s wrong and have even sued over the issue.
Instead, Bustamante will give the funds to a committee against Proposition 54, the ballot measure which would keep most government agencies in the state from collecting racial data.
