Dispute Halts Casino Project

Federal Indian gaming officials have stopped reviewing a proposed Buena Vista Rancheria casino near Ione until a dispute over tribal leadership can be resolved. Me-Wuk Indians have been working for more than a year to develop the gaming facility off Highway 88. But the feds stopped reviewing the application when the Bureau of Indian Affairs issued a ruling leaving the tribe´s leadership in question.
