CHP Promises Holiday Enforcement

The California Highway Patrol is promising a Labor Day weekend crackdown on motorists — responding to the bloodiest July 4th holiday in six years.
Police are targeting drivers who don´t wear seat belts, as well as drunken drivers. Motorists not wearing seat belts died in disproportionate numbers over the Independence Day holiday.
California has the nation´s best percentage of drivers who wear safety belts, at more than 90 percent. But the CHP has received two federal grants it is using as part of a drive to boost that compliance.
