The wildfire burning in the Angeles National Forest near Glendora has grown to 1,200 acres and is only five percent contained this morning. U-S Forest Service assistant chief Jim Hall says the blaze is moving southwest, and as many as 700 firefighters are on scene trying to corral it. It´s burning toward a handful of forest service employee residences. Hall says he is expecting some “extreme” fire behavior because the area is rugged with brush. “Hot Shot” teams from the Stanislaus National forest have been called in to help. The wildfire erupted yesterday afternoon near Camp Williams and Camp Follows, two privately owned campgrounds. The fire grew quickly, at one point threatening homes and forcing 300 residents and 2000 campers to flee. A plume of smoke was visible miles away.
