Valley Plans Fireplace Ban

The expression “Don´t light up” could soon have new meaning in the San Joaquin Valley. The valley’s air district says it plans to ban fires on some winter nights. Soot from fireplaces is blamed for some of the region’s pollution problems. Voluntary fire bans are expected to become mandatory next winter.
