Man Hiking For Help Found OK
A man was found in good condition yesterday afternoon near Groveland after he spent the night hiking through the national forest to get help.
Tuolumne County Sheriffs deputies report the 1991 Dodge Power Wagon truck 48 year-old Byron Maxon and wife Shirley were driving and became stuck Tuesday night on Forest Road 3-N-0h-1 in the Femmons Meadow area north east of Groveland.
Authorities say Maxon left his wife in the truck and started out on foot for help. Deputies found him near Lumsden in the Tuolumne Wild and Scenic River Area around 12:30 p.m. yesterday. Officials say he appeared to be OK after the overnight ordeal.
