The World is Discovering Gold Country
In the last few weeks, we’ve received some terrific publicity for what our region has to offer the world; thanks to the efforts of a lot of people to make it all happen.
Here are some of the kudos we’ve received recently.
The Lonely Planet guides have released their, “Top 10 US Travel Destinations for 2012.” Number 6 on that list is, California Gold Country with a specific mention of Jamestown. The editors describe their choices as must-see destinations putting us in very good company and giving us a lot of exposure. If you’d like to see the entire list, check out the Lonely Planet web site at http://www.lonelyplanet.com/usa/travel-tips-and-articles/76941.
One of our target markets for the past few years has been the meetings industry and we’ve gotten some great coverage there as well. Successful Meetings magazine; a major national trade publication for meeting and event planners picked up the Lonely Planet list and shows it on their web site as well at: http://www.successfulmeetings.com/Event-Planning/SM-Top-10/Articles/Top-10-U-S–Travel-Destinations-for-2012/. It’s the same list, however it reaches an important market for us of buyers who may not see the Lonely Planet Guide.
Also in the meetings market, another major national publication, Smart Meetings Magazine, has done a feature story on meetings in our area titled, Sacramento and Gold Country Treasures. In late October we hosted a senior editor who spent several days exploring the area and as a result, almost half of the article and a number of the photos focus on Tuolumne and Calaveras County. If you’d like to read the article, visit http://www.smartmeetings.com/event-planning-magazine/2011/12 and go to page 138 which starts off with a 1/2 page photo of Railtown 1897 State Historic Park. Many thanks to Chris Link of the Best Western Sonora Oaks for hosting the editor as we’ve gotten tremendous national coverage as a result.
