Maxhimer, Geraldine “Gerrie”

Geraldine “Gerrie” Helen Maxhimer, Born March 19, 1937 in Waukegan, Illinois to Gerald Kelly and Helen Kelly (Brain) and was known by family and friends as Gerrie or Gerrie Helen. She passed away Monday, August 20, 2021 at Community Regional Medical Center, Fresno, California.  

Her parents settled in Walnut Creek California after World War II to raise Gerrie, her older brother Robert (Bob) and her younger brothers, William and Timothy. The Kellys began to visit Twain Harte for vacations in the 1940s. Gerrie married Barrett Jones in 1957 and they had four daughters: Wendy, Gail, Jennifer and Kelly. Gerrie loved gardening and animals and could always be relied on for a hilarious story involving one of the many pets from her life: from Gertie the Goat to her constant companions Happy and Cookie.

Gerrie spent most of her life in California; she loved Twain Harte and Tuolumne County. She moved to Sugar Pine in 1988 after purchasing Kelly’s Kitchen, which she owned and operated until 1995. Gerrie married Gary Maxhimer on October 17, 1999. Gerrie and Gary together operated the “Snack Shack” concession at Twain Harte Lake from 1996-2006. Gerrie loved family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. As a business owner, one of her greatest joys was watching families enjoy time together whether over a meal or an ice cream at the lake.

Gerrie is preceded in death by her husband Gary, her brother Bob and her brother Bill. She is survived by her brother Timothy and her four daughters: Wendy Helseth, Gail Brickley, Jennifer LeMaster (Jim), and Kelly Dresen (Joe); eleven grandchildren: Holly Helseth, Eric Helseth, Russell Helseth, Kathryn Brickley, John Brickley (Jessica), Thomas Brickley, Jessica Gage(Kyle), Terry Knapp (Francesca), Anna Kuriscak, John Dresen, Jason Dresen, Julia Dresen; and seven great-grandchildren.

Cremation is planned and inurnment will be in Carters Cemetery, Tuolumne, California
