Calaveras County’s Economic Issues

On this weekend’s Mother Lode Views, get some insight into the newly elected Calaveras County Board Chair, Debbie Ponte. She will talk about the economic woes of the county, efforts to bring business to the area and her controversial election as chair. Ponte was elected over Supervisor Darren Spellman who was next in line for the position.

Ponte says, “I was surprised at first and honored. I think this board is taking a look at breaking some traditions and modifying some traditions. I do feel even though it wasn’t a majority of the vote (3 to 2) that I do feel I have the confidence of the Board to serve as their chair and do a good job.”
