Unused or expired prescription medications that are not properly disposed of are a public safety issue, leading to accidental poisoning, overdose, and abuse. Flushing medication can also damage our water supply.
Drop off all prescribed and over-the-counter medication except for intravenous solutions, injectables,
and syringes. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container.
Remove medications from their containers prior to disposal. All participants will remain anonymous
and no record of dropped off medications will be maintained. A Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputy will
be on scene to provide security for the participants and for the controlled substances.
