The California State Fair is Right Around the Corner
The planning started months ago as one of our largest consumer events of the year is coming up soon: The California State Fair in Sacramento.
The Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau (TCVB) makes a major commitment every year with strong support from local businesses, government and the community to be a part of this event as it draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every Summer.
Each year, our exhibit is custom-designed (often using recycled materials from previous exhibits) to showcase some of the unique things our area offers and this year is no exception. Our goal is to encourage as many people as possible to include Tuolumne County in their vacation plans and to provide information to help them make that decision.
To make it all work, we depend heavily on volunteers. It’s an opportunity to share what you love about living here with others as well as your personal favorite things to do and see. In exchange for working a 3 1/2 or 4 hour shift in the air-conditioned Counties Building, the TCVB will provide you with free parking and free admission to the Fair. You’re welcome to enjoy the Fair before and/or after your shift. You’re also welcome to bring a friend, colleague or family member as we always like to have two people working in the exhibit together.
You’ll meet people from all over California and it’s easy. The Tuolumne County Vacation Planner, which you’ll be handing out, has the answer to just about any question people are likely to ask. By the way, among the most common questions are, “How do you pronounce, Tuolumne?” and “Where is Tuolumne County?”
It’s a fun way to spend a day and a great way to help entice visitors to join us. Tourism is the largest private sector employer in Tuolumne County and contributes over $191 million to our economy each year. Visitors make it possible for us the have the wide range of restaurants and activities our area offers as well as creating local jobs.
