DON’T BE THE DEALER – Unused or expired prescription medications that are not properly disposed of are a public safety issue, leading to accidental poisoning, overdose, and abuse. Flushing medications can also damage our water supply.
Prepare for Proper Disposal
-Drop off all prescribed and over the counter medication except for intravenous solutions, injectables, and syringes.
-Remove medications from their containers prior to disposal.
Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container.
-All participants will remain anonymous and no
record of dropped off medications will be
maintained. A Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputy
will be on scene to provide security for the
participants and for the controlled substances.
-Non-medical use of prescription drugs can be just as dangerous
as street drugs when taken without a prescription. Your participation
helps ensure that medications don’t end up in the wrong hands.
The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department, YES Partnership
and the DEA are providing a safe and confidential way for members
of our community to rid their homes of unused or expired medication.
