Update: November Begins With A Sierra Nevada Winter Storm Warning

The first significant storm of the “wet season” has arrived.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the western slopes of the Northern Sierra until 8 PM this evening (Wednesday). Additionally, the Winter Storm Warning issued for Yosemite National Park outside of the Yosemite Valley will expire at 11 PM tonight (Wednesday).

The snow levels today will continue to fall this morning down to 3,500 to 4,500 feet.

Heavy convective snow showers are possible today, which may bring some quick accumulations of one to two inches.

Total additional snow accumulations of two inches to a foot of snow is expected above the 5,000 foot elevation.

Winds may gust from thirty-five to forty-five mph. Be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times.

Travel could be very difficult. Plan on slippery road conditions. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
