Murphys Dia de Los Muertos takes place this Saturday, November 5th from 11 AM through 5 PM with activities, vendors, food, drink, and a community altar in the Park. This day traces its roots back to the indigenous cultures of Mexico, Latin America, and Europe and has become intertwined with the Catholic observance of All Saints Day.

Local businesses will display ofrendas, we’ll have artisan vendors, food, drinks, the community altar, and entertainment in our beautiful Community Park along the banks of Murphys Creek from 11-5. The event will end with a blessing of the items left on the community altar at around 5:15 pm.

This is a family-friendly event, and we welcome your children.  The park will host dancers, musicians, and El Catrin/La Catrina, and Los Nino pageants during the day.  There is a $10 fee for adults to compete for a chance to win bragging rights and a cash prize, but kids are free and need not register in advance. Adults should sign up at our information booth in the Park by 2pm. We encourage everyone to get in the spirit by dressing up or getting their face painted.

The Murphys Day of the Dead Celebration (Dia de Los Muertos) is hosted by the Murphys Business Association in partnership with the Murphys Community Club and the participating businesses of Murphys.
