The Columbia Jazz Artist Series invites professional jazz artists to perform with local musicians.
Alex Lucero has been a full-time professional singer-songwriter and guitarist over five years having composed four all original albums as well as performing live several nights a week.
Lucero was originally from Oakdale, California and when starting out he made guest appearances singing alongside established artists including Barbara Morrison and Bobby McFerrin at the Columbia Jazz Artist Series.
Since then he has been the supporting act for Michael McDonald, Chaka Khan, Tommy Castro and others.
“Alex is thrilled to be back on stage with the Columbia Kicks Big Band,” Rod Harris, director of the program said. “He has a great appreciation for all the opportunities and experiences our Columbia Jazz Artist Series has brought him.”
Harris said that Murphys Creek Theatre has been newly renovated.
“If you haven’t been before, it’s a great intimate theater, great sound, great parking, great sight-lines, beer and wine for sale, and comfortable new seats,” Harris said.
