During the Sonora’s Second Saturday, May 13, from 5 to 8 pm, the Sonora United Methodist Church will celebrate Mother’s Day. Beautiful jewelry and carved wooden craft items from Kenya will be offered for sale as well as giant homemade cookies. A craft table will be available for children to make Mother’s Day cards.
The sale of the Kenya jewelry and craft items will benefit African Team Ministries, a nonprofit that works to provide drip irrigation systems in the drought-stricken areas of Kenya. The cookie sale will benefit Interfaith Community Social Services of Tuolumne County.
The church is located at 90 Yaney Ave. in Sonora, diagonally across the street from the old Tuolumne County Courthouse. Parking is available behind the church on Upper Sunset Ave. For more information, please call Lorraine Vogt at (209) 559-5335.
