Sponsored by:

Update at 7:15 a.m.:  A Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors public hearing scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today regarding an appeal of the planning commission’s approval of a 105 ft. tall wireless tower in the Jamestown area has been cancelled.  The decision came last night due to a citizen bringing up concerns of a lack of public notice before the initial commission meeting. The issue will now be kicked back to the commission to reconsider after holding another public hearing, which has yet to be scheduled. (Full details on the wireless tower and the objections of those who are opposing its to its approval are below.)

Original post Monday (Nov. 20) 1 p.m.: Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors will review an appeal filed over a planning commission’s decision to approve a 105 ft. tall wireless tower in the Jamestown area.

The project application was submitted by Epic Wireless and the proposed tower will be utilized by AT&T to improve coverage in Jamestown. However, appeals to the supervisors were filed by both Raul Vaugn, a nearby property owner, and Ben Hulet, CEO and President of Mother Lode Internet. Concerns listed to the county were related to a failure to give notice to affected businesses, whether it is consistent with the General Plan, the possible negative impact on nearby property values and whether a thorough analysis was completed. The tower would be situated at the intersection of French Flat Road and Rawhide Road. To read an earlier story detailing the project, click here.

In addition, the supervisors will hear a presentation from Jason Kuiken, the new leader of the Stanislaus National Forest. Also, the board is expected to vote on approving a new Tuolumne County Library Director. An un-named finalist has emerged and the individual is expected to be named at the meeting. The position has been vacant over the past several years but the funding was restored this year. Tuesday’s meeting starts at 9am.
