Combating The Fentanyl Crisis
Mother Lode Views featured a conversation with two groups working to combat the fentanyl crisis in the country and right here in the Mother Lode. The featured guests were the co-founders of FACTS, Kristin Vogel and Lisa Machado, whose daughter Angelina Spills passed away in April of 2023 from fentanyl. Also representing the state organization of Stop Drug Homicide was Mereka Cole; her son Marek Cole passed away from fentanyl poisoning in 2021. They will discuss the dangers of the deadly drug and bring awareness to this issue and ways the public can help.
Of Note: Saturday (9/21) is Fentanyl Awareness Day, and the first Tuolumne County Fentanyl Awareness Event will be at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds, the Manzanita Lawn area, from 10 AM through 2 PM. There will be guest speakers, free fentanyl test strips, and Narcan and Narcan training. Additionally, there will be entertainment, music, and activities for the entire family.
