Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA– The Summerville Bears nearly completed an impressive comeback but fell just short in a 35-34 loss to the Calaveras Red Hawks. Both teams were scoreless in the first quarter, but Calaveras took control in the second with 19 unanswered points. Summerville came alive in the second half, scoring 14 points in the third quarter, yet Calaveras maintained their lead by adding 16 points of their own. In the fourth quarter, the Bears mounted a fierce rally, scoring 20 points while holding the Red Hawks scoreless, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit, leaving them one point shy of victory.

Meanwhile, the Sonora Wildcats secured a dominant 45-28 win over the Hilmar Yellow Jackets, starting strong with a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and extending it with a 14-point second quarter. Hilmar matched Sonora’s 14 points in the second quarter, keeping the game within reach. Both teams traded scores in the third quarter, each adding 14 points, but Sonora’s defense shut down the Yellow Jackets in the fourth, while their offense added 10 more points to seal the win.
