Sierra Nevada Winter Weather Advisory Kicks Off November
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the western slope of the northern Sierra Nevada, from 5 PM Friday through 5 PM Saturday. Additionally, the Winter Weather Advisory will also be in effect for Yosemite National Park (above the Valley floor), from 5 PM Friday through 11 PM Saturday.
Snow is forecast above 6,000 feet.
The total snow accumulations will range between five and ten inches.
At Tioga Pass, there is a 59 percent chance of four or more inches of snow, and a 26 percent chance of six inches or more of snow.
The heaviest snowfall is expected Friday night through Saturday morning, gradually diminishing through the afternoon. Scattered snow showers will persist into Saturday night.
Winds may gust as high as forty mph.
Expect slick, snow covered roads, especially on bridges and overpasses. Chain controls and travel delays should also be anticipated. The difficult and hazardous conditions could impact travel during the Winter Weather Advisory period.
Slow down and use caution while driving. Be prepared for slippery roads.
If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
