Summerville And Sonora Both Find Victory At End Of Regular Season
Sonora, CA– The Summerville Bears and Sonora Wildcats each secured commanding victories in their respective matchups, solidifying their positions as postseason contenders.
Summerville hosted the Linden Lions and delivered a strong all-around performance en route to a 28-7 win. After a scoreless first quarter, the Bears came alive in the second, scoring 14 unanswered points that set the tone for the game. Summerville’s defense played a crucial role, allowing only one touchdown from Linden in the second quarter and shutting them out for the rest of the game. The Bears added touchdowns in both the third and fourth quarters.
Meanwhile, in Ripon, the Sonora Wildcats surged past Ripon Christian with a 42-21 victory. Sonora came out strong, scoring 14 points in the first quarter and maintaining their lead throughout the game. Although Ripon Christian fought back in the second quarter after taking advantage of a Sonora fumble with two touchdowns to cut Sonora’s lead to 21-14 at halftime, the Wildcats’ explosive third quarter, where they added another 14 points, kept the game out of reach. The Knights managed one final touchdown in the fourth, but Sonora’s consistent offense proved too much, sealing the win with a final score in the last quarter.
Both teams have secured spots in the playoffs with opponents to be determined at a later date. Full recaps of both games will be provided on Saturday morning.
