VIENOP, HENRY WILLIAM “H.W” “HANK”

Henry William “H.W.” “Hank” Vienop passed away Saturday, February 3rd at his residence in Jamestown, CA. Henry “Hank” Vienop was born in Napa, Ca in 1927. He was drafted into the Army in 1945, was in Basic training for VJ day, and was involved in the Occupation of Japan. He was also stationed in Korea. After his discharge, he attended UC Davis. Returning home, he joined the family construction business, Vienop Builders. Soon after, he met the love of his life, Anna. During this time, many prominent Napa county buildings were built by Vienop Builders, including the Mondovi Winery in Yountville, St. John’s Lutheran Church, and many others. In 1978, Hank moved to Tuolumne County, and soon after purchased a local business, Woodshop 1-A. He was also involved in the local Lutheran Church, Kiwanis Club, and was a founding member of the Sierra Quilt Guild. He also found time to chase trains, one of his favorite activities. Hank Vienop is survived by his daughter Susan Gerig of Baker City Oregon, his son John Vienop of Jamestown, and sister Alma Skillings of Napa, CA. He has 4 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Anna, and sister Edna. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.

  • Services: Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 17th at 12 noon at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 13880 Joshua Way, Sonora, CA. Private burial was held in Mt. Shadow Cemetery, Sonora, CA. The family requests that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in lieu of flowers.
