Weekly Roundup

Happy Friday Senate District 4‚

Like you‚ I have been closely following the devastating wildfires in Southern California. While SD 4 is not currently affected by wildfires‚ many of us have friends and family in the region‚ and their loss hits close to home.

Fire resources in our district‚ from Amador County to Inyo County ‚ are currently on the scene in Los Angeles County helping to protect life and property. I am deeply grateful for them and for their tireless dedication.

This event is also critical reminder to get prepared. Don’t wait. Protect yourself‚ your family‚ and your home from wildfire by putting a plan in place today. Visit readyforwildfire.org for more resources.

Today also wraps up my first week back in Sacramento. I am very proud to join with this phenomenal group of women on the Senate Republican Caucus‚ working to tackle our state’s biggest challenges and improve our quality of life. Part of my mission in 2025? Make rural living in California affordable again.

Tackling Expensive Utility Costs

Speaking of making rural California more affordable. This week a report from the nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s Office revealed California has the second-highest electricity rates in the nation. The problem is getting worse‚ outpacing inflation and growth in other states. The bottom line? Sacramento Democrats’ energy policies have made life unaffordable for Californians. I spoke with ABC 10 this week about the reasons behind our sky-high cost of living‚ and what needs to be done.

Here to Help

As always‚ my office and I are here to serve you. If you ever need assistance with a state agency‚ please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help! Learn more at my website.

Sincerely‚

Marie Alvarado-Gil
California Senate‚ 4th District
