- Total Cooking time: 30 minutes
This is a delicious twist on the original, using diced beef smoked sausage instead of ham for flavoring. Try this as a side dish alongside a turkey or ham and I can almost guarantee it will upstage the main entrée with your family and kids.
Amount | Measure | Ingredients |
---|---|---|
8 | medium | potatoes peeled and sliced thin |
8 | oz | beef smoked sausage diced |
2 | cups | Milk |
½ | cup | flour |
½ | teaspoon | pepper |
1 | teaspoon | salt |
½ | teaspoon | garlic salt |
3 | tablespoon | butter or margarine |
1 | cup | cheddar cheese |
To prepare:
In a large steel bowl, whisk together the milk, flour, and seasonings until well blended and no lumps. Layer the potatoes and sausage pieces in a medium (9″ x 9″) baking dish or casserole pan. Pour the milk-flour mixture over the potatoes and then place pats of butter over the top. Cover with cheese and place in a preheated 350-degree oven. Bake 1 ½ hours until sauce is thickened and potatoes are tender, serve immediately and enjoy!
