Update: Officials Share More About Mysterious Death In Murphys Creek
Update at 3:44pm: Calaveras County Coroner Kevin Raggio has confirmed the identity of the deceased male found in the downtown Murphys creek.
It is Murphys resident Randy Terry, age 40. The information was being withheld pending notification of kin. Raggio says a forensic autopsy is scheduled for Friday to determine Terry’s cause of death. He adds that Terry had been reported missing about two weeks ago.
Original Post at 2:55pm: San Andreas, CA — Calaveras sheriff’s officials have released more details concerning the deceased person found in the creek adjacent to downtown Murphys.
As we reported here, the tragic finding occurred Tuesday in Angels Creek near the 800 block of Main Street.
On Wednesday afternoon, spokesperson Sgt. Greg Stark, shared that the sheriff’s office initially received the call Tuesday just after 11 a.m. and that responding deputies learned that citizens had discovered the body submerged in the creek waters. As sheriff’s detectives processed the scene, responders temporarily closed Murphys Grade Road.
Stark stated the decedent is a white male, approximately 40 years old. His identity is being withheld pending full notification to family and the case remains under investigation.
