Pills Could Drop Cancer Costs

Sacramento, CA – The Associated Press reports patients undergoing chemotherapy would pay less for pill-based treatments under legislation sent to the governor.
The AP says this legislation comes in the wake of objections from some health plans and insurers who say it will prevent them from deciding what to charge for cancer care. The bill would prohibit health plans and insurance policies from charging more for covering oral chemotherapy than for the intravenous treatment.
The bill would take effect in 2013 if the Governor decides to sign it into law. There is no word on whether he is planning to sign the bill or not.
