Memorial Day Events Scheduled Across Mother Lode
Sonora, CA — There will be many Memorial Day activities taking place across the Mother Lode this weekend.
The American Legion Post 58 will present a program at 1pm Sunday at the Mountain Shadow Cemetery in Sonora. It will include a presentation of the colors by the VFW Post 3154. A number of area law enforcement officials will be taking part, as well as members of the Boy Scouts.
Groveland Fire will put on a barbeque and other activities from 3-8pm Sunday at the Pine Mountain Lake Stables. There will be face painting for the kids and live music.
At 11am Monday, a historical salute honoring soldiers of the Mexican, Spanish-American, and Civil Wars will be held at the Historical Columbia Public Cemetery. The black powder salute will be presented by the Columbia Grenadine Belles and the Columbia Foot Dragoons.
In San Andreas at 11am Monday, Veterans and members of the Boy Scouts will hold a ceremony at a monument at the Calaveras County Government Center.
At 11:30am Monday in Twain Harte will be the “Call for Old Glory” flag raising ceremony and parade at the Twain Harte Arch. It will be followed by a hot dog lunch.
All of the events are open to the public.
