It’s A Mixed Bag For Monday Mother Lode Residents And Visitors

Twain Harte, CA — Monday´s snowfall in the Sierra foothills proved to be frustrating for some but extremely enjoyable for others.

If you were a motorist headed eastbound on Hwy 108, Caltrans required chains at Soulsbyville. “Chain veterans” were there to help you out for $30 or you could simply stop and put them on yourself.

Snow and icy conditions caused a number of early morning accidents in the Confidence-Long Barn area. For a time the CHP shut down the eastbound lanes of Hwy 108 at the East Twain Harte entrance.

In addition, Tuolumne Rd. between Soulsbyville Rd. and Black Oak Casino was closed for a short time due to several accidents.

On the brighter side, with school out for the celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, it was time to hit the snow. The north side of Hwy 108 just west of the East Twain Harte entrance proved to be a very popular spot for family play in the snow.
