Calaveras County Works To Secure Land For Law And Justice Center
San Andreas, Ca — Securing land for the Law and Justice Center expansion is still a top priority for the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors.
“The County is in negotiations with the land owners, and the hope is that we can reach a negotiated agreement that will be amicable and based on real appraised value of both,” says Board Chair Steve Willensky. “I am cautiously optimistic that we might be able to achieve that.”
The 57 acres of land being looked at is adjacent to the current Law and Justice center in San Andreas. A portion of the land is owned by business owner Greg Opinski, and the other portion is owned by developer Ryan Voorhees.
The Board will further discuss the property at Tuesday´s meeting. County leaders are hoping they will not have to use eminent domain as a tool to secure the land.
