Senior Agency Freed Of High Risk Status
Sonora, CA — After three years of revising its management tactics, the Area 12 Agency on Aging no longer has the title of a high-risk agency.
The state Department of Aging placed the label on the senior agency in October 2004 for inadequate fiscal management.
Area 12 manages senior programs in Calaveras, Tuolumne, Amador, Mariposa and Alpine counties.
The state says it is withdrawing the high-risk status after a February assessment proved the agency has complied with a series of imposed conditions. For example the agency hired an outside consultant to revamp its financial management system, and filed extra financial reports every month.
