Fire Prevention Season Should Start Now
Sonora, CA — According to Tuolumne County Fire Marshall it´s never too early to start preparations for the upcoming fire season.
Hubbard maintains that creating 100 feet of defensible space around a private residence or business remains the key element in any successful fire prevention program. CAL FIRE will enforce the 100 feet of defensible space but the agency prefers that all Mother Lode residents step up to the plate and perform the needed tasks on their own.
With all the downed trees and limbs from last week´s storm, Hubbard says it´s important for an immediate cleanup to be completed. In addition rain gutters and roofs should be thoroughly cleaned.
Law enforcement officials agree with CAL FIRE officials on the next point; make sure your street address is plainly marked and well lighted should CAL FIRE crews need to respond to a blaze.
