“The Sonora Sunrise Rotary Club is proud to continue sponsoring the 34th Annual Orient
Express Run in Chinese Camp, come rain or shine to raise money for Special Olympics.
Over 150 “Special Olympians” take part in the Tuolumne County Special Olympics program
participating in track and field, floor hockey, basketball, the state games and other sports. “These
activities contribute to their quality of life, personal growth, and provide an opportunity for them
to be actively engaged in competitive sports and recreation”, says Dave Thoeny, president of the
Sonora Sunrise Rotary. “These activities greatly contribute to an improved quality of life for
everyone in the program”, adds Thoeny.
