Calaveras Water District To Declare Emergency
San Andreas, CA – The Calaveras County Water District has called a special meeting today to declare a state of emergency.
The meeting will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the district office in San Andreas.
Interim General Manager Larry Diamond says four of the district´s treated wastewater ponds are full of storm water and in danger of overflowing.
The ponds are in Vallecito, Valley Springs and Copperopolis. Measures have been taken to prevent spillage but with another storm on the way engineers are crossing their fingers.
Diamond says other districts are also declaring emergencies to make themselves eligible for state and federal funds.
