James Ivy Boyd III, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with Sierra Orthopedic Institute in Sonora. Dr. Boyd earned a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from Pacific Union College and earned his medical degree and completed his orthopedic residency at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. Dr. Boyd also served four years in the United States Navy, practicing general orthopedics at the Robert E. Bush Naval Hospital in Twentynine Palms, Calif. After completing his service with the Navy, Dr. Boyd completed a one-year sports medicine fellowship with Scripps Health in San Diego, where he treated several professional athletes with the Padres and Chargers as well as many recreational athletes. Dr. Boyd moved to Sonora in 2011.
