Brian Carlson, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist with Sonora Regional Medical Center. Dr. Carlson earned his medical degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and completed his residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia. He completed his training in the highly competitive gastroenterology fellowship program at University of California, Irvine. Following his training, Dr. Carlson started in private practice in Southern California in 1995, practiced in Visalia, then moved to Sacramento. Dr. Carlson relocated to Sonora in 2013. Within his specialty, Dr. Carlson has particular interest in treating reflux disease, screening for colon cancer and performing biliary endoscopic procedures. Dr. Carlson grew up in Ohio, one block from Lake Erie, and still has family on the East Coast. He has run eight marathons, including the Stockholm Marathon, and also enjoys playing electric guitar.
