Historian and author David McCullough tells us to “Climb the mountain not to plant your flag, but to embrace the challenge, enjoy the air, and behold the view. Climb it so you can see the world, not so the world can see you.”
The Social Security trust fund earned a whopping 1% during 2020. Compare that to say Norway with a 10.9% return on its retirement fund and you can see why Social Security is in the hole by some $16.8 trillion. Meanwhile, Congress just spent some 86 billion taxpayer dollars to bailout private sector pension funds on behalf of the Teamsters and other unions. We had better stick with our IRAs and 401ks.
Despite his inaugural speech expressing his goal of “bringing America together, uniting our people and uniting our nation;” we note that so far Joe Biden has ignored every opportunity to reach across the aisle essentially calling the Republican Texas Governor a “Neanderthal” and in particular with the recent more fiscally responsible and less ideologically divisive Republican proposal for the next stimulus package.
