Born a 10th generation Oregonian, (5 generations on each side) I have an enthusiasm for learning and teaching new things. After a ten year mini career in the dental field I moved on to research and embraced the social web. Though the internet is far too large for any one person to claim to be an expert, I can hold my own with the latest trends.
I enjoy researching and writing blogs. As the "Internet Program Director" for myMotherLode.com since 2008, I update the website and have a wide variety of interests. There is always something entertaining, educational or inspirational to share.
Finally, some bi-partisan action in Congress that could be beneficial to all concerned. Democrat Dick Durbin and Republican Lindsey Graham re-introduced a bill that would create a path to legal permanent residence for those so-called “Dreamers” who pursue postsecondary education, work for at least three years or served in the military. They also must pass background checks with a clean criminal record and have a high school diploma. And, we especially like this provision, be proficient in English and U.S. history.
Historian and author David McCullough tells us to “Climb the mountain not to plant your flag, but to embrace the challenge, enjoy the air, and behold the view. Climb it so you can see the world, not so the world can see you.”
The Social Security trust fund earned a whopping 1% during 2020. Compare that to say Norway with a 10.9% return on its retirement fund and you can see why Social Security is in the hole by some $16.8 trillion. Meanwhile, Congress just spent some 86 billion taxpayer dollars to bailout private sector pension funds on behalf of the Teamsters and other unions. We had better stick with our IRAs and 401ks.
