Susan Troy, RN, is the Breast Health Nurse Navigator at Sonora Regional Medical Center, coordinating the clinical, educational and support needs of breast cancer patients and their families. Susan has been in nursing for over 40 years. Prior to moving into her role as breast health nurse navigator, she served in both medical oncology and radiation therapy at Sonora Regional Cancer Center, gaining first-hand knowledge of the diagnoses, treatments and support needs of cancer patients.
As breast health nurse navigator, Susan's contact with patients begins when they have a "recall," which is when a patient is asked to come back for additional views after a screening mammogram. She helps ease anxiety by providing information, support and a listening ear.
