The top two favorites to win next season's College Football Playoff will square off in Week 1, when Ohio State hosts Texas on Aug. 30.

Ohio State claimed its first national title in 10 years with a 34-23 victory over Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff National Championship game.

Following a 34-23 loss to Ohio State in Monday's College Football Playoff title game, Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman told reporters, "We can't make mistakes. It falls on my shoulders. And as the head coach, we have to be better prepared for this moment."

Marquette has promoted Mike Broeker to athletic director. Broeker has been the school's assistant AD for the past 18 years and will replace the retiring Bill Scholl.
