Leadership Changes At The TC Business Council

It has been my honor to serve as President of the Tuolumne County Business Council for the last 5 ½ years. I would like to thank the business council members, past and present, for being a constant source of support and encouragement. In addition, I’ve had the pleasure of working with and excellent board of directors who have provided guidance, insight and balance. And I would be remiss if I did not mention how enjoyable it has been to work with executive director Ron Kopf.

Our community is fueled by partnerships, collaborations and cooperation and business council members are, more often than not, front and center serving as the catalyst. I was reminded of this late last year when reading the article on MyMotherLode.com announcing Sonora Area Foundation’s amazing donation to SRMC’s new Cancer Center “Foundation Bestows Biggest Gift Yet” More accurately, I was looking at the picture attached to the article and was struck by the business council connection. SRMC is a member as is Yosemite Title (represented by SAF board member Pete Kerns), Blue Mountain Minerals (represented by SAF board member Carey Haughy) and SAF board member Mark Kraft is a former business council board member.

To me the picture is a reflection of the significant impact business council members make to our community each and every day. The contributions of our members extend well beyond living wage jobs and benefits. Business council members support numerous nonprofit entities and charitable causes every year and this support is not limited to financial contributions. Often business council member employees are seen volunteering at events and going above and beyond supporting these worthy causes. This significant connection and commitment to our community has made it easy for me to represent the business council as an advocate and ambassador. I am fortunate to have had this opportunity and grateful for the experience.
