Senate District 4 Victories

Senate District 4!

With the legislative session officially over, I’m very proud to share the victories we achieved this year.
First and foremost, SB 268 was signed into law, closing a dangerous loophole and strengthening victims’ rights in California. This bill sends a clear message: violent rapists will be held accountable. It’s a huge win for justice and a crucial step in strengthening public safety.

Additionally, SB 1240 and SB 1197 were both signed into law. SB 1240 helps protect the benefits of the hardworking firefighters of the Diamond Springs-El Dorado Fire Protection District. SB 1197 improves access to critical services for families caring for children with disabilities and foster youth. Both of these bills reflect my commitment to supporting our most vulnerable, and the first responders who protect our communities.
Special Session on Gas Prices
Yes, I said the legislative session is over. But last week we were called into a special session to vote on ABx2-1, which claims to address gas “price gouging.” Unfortunately, this bill could actually drive prices up even more for hardworking Californians.

I voted No on this measure, and spoke out against it in my floor remarks. We need real solutions to high gas prices, not more bureaucratic overreach. I’ve also joined my colleagues in urging the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to reconsider its upcoming vote on the low carbon fuel standard (LCFS), which could hike gas prices as high as 65 cents per gallon.

I’ll continue fighting for greater government transparency in the effort to reduce our high cost of living and improve the quality of life for our families.
