State Fair Showcase

For many years, the Tuolumne County Visitor’s Bureau (TCVB) has exhibited at the California State Fair in Sacramento and 2013 is no exception. One of the largest market segments we have is visitors who live in Northern California. Most State Fair visitors are from all over Northern California which is the same market. In other words, we reach a lot of people at the State Fair who find us an easy destination to get to, interesting and appealing and one that sometimes slips their mind until we remind them.

To participate every year requires a lot of preparation and a lot of volunteers to bring it all together. The preparation started last Fall with planning meetings and exhibit design. Now we move into the more active phase including construction of our exhibit, marketing our area at the fair and of course, staffing our exhibit.

To make it all work WE NEED YOUR HELP! Volunteer to spend a morning, afternoon or a day at the fair working in our exhibit. In exchange for your time, we’ll pay for your entry fee to the fair and your parking. You’re welcome to stay as long as you want of course, and to bring family or friends along to take advantage of the free parking.

Working at our exhibit is easy…it’s answering questions, the most common being where we are, how long it takes to get here and the kinds of things to see and do when you are here. You’ll have visitor guides to distribute that have all the answers, however you’ll find people love to hear about your personal favorite things to do and see. By the way our exhibit is in an AIR-CONDITIONED BUILDING!

This year’s fair runs from Friday, July 12 through Sunday, July 28.Fair hours are 11 AM to 10 PM Monday through Thursday and 10 AM to 10 PM Friday – Sunday. The midway and kids park stay open until midnight on the weekends.

We always try to have two people working together in our exhibit; that means two free passes along with the parking permit. Work a shift together if you like and enjoy the fair for the rest of the day.

Working shifts are 11 AM to 2:30 PM and/or 2:30 PM to 6 PM Monday through Thursday and 10 AM to 2:00 PM and/or 2:00 PM to 6 PM, Friday through Sunday. Work a shift (or two shifts) and enjoy the fair for the rest of the day. We book slots on a first-come first-serve basis.
