The World’s Largest Travel Industry Show
Tuolumne County Visitor’s Bureau Exhibits at the World’s Largest Travel Industry Show
Each year the Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau (TCVB) participates in a number of trade shows to reach tour operators, travel agencies (online and off line) and a variety of other organizations that sell travel destinations, products and services.
The world’s largest show takes place every year in Berlin, Germany during March; the ITB International Travel Show. We participate with other California tourism organizations together as part of Visit California (the statewide travel marketing organization) team. As you can see in the photo, it’s quite a large group. Nanci Sikes, our Executive Director is second from the left in this photo taken with the US Ambassador to Germany, John B. Emerson.
This year the show attracted exhibitors from 189 countries as well as 114,000 buyers. This represents an increase of about 5000 more buyers than last year.
Of equal importance are the 5,700 accredited journalists form 81 countries an 300 bloggers from 25 countries that attended this year. The show serves to help us reach the media as well as buyers all in one place at one time making this a very efficient and cost effective way to tell the world about our area. Sharing the cost of exhibiting with Visit California and many other visitor organizations throughout the state makes ITB an excellent investment that always brings us new buyers and more media coverage than we could ever achieve on our own.
