St. Clare Episcopal Church in Avery will Bless the Animals on Sunday, October 3 during the 9:00 AM service. The Rev. Lyn Morlan will celebrate. We are excited to offer this observance once again, after having to forego it last year.
St. Francis of Assisi is recognized as the patron saint of animals for his love of all creatures. St. Clare, an early follower, founded the Poor Clares order. Both have been honored in California with a city (Francis) and a county (Clare).
The church is located at 4351 Highway 4 in Avery. Masks are required for humans. Animals must be in a carrier or on a leash. The service will be held inside the church. Special arrangements can be made for large animals if needed. Advance notice would be appreciated at 209-795-5970 or bmchenry220@caltel.com.
Regular services are held at 9:00 AM each Sunday, with Holy Eucharist celebrated on most, and Morning Prayer on the 3rd Sunday. St. Clare is part of the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin.
