Aronos Club Hosts An English Country Garden Tea

Planting Seeds of Opportunity is the theme for the annual Aronos Research Club’s English Country Garden Tea, held on Sunday, April 26 from 2 p.m. at the Aronos Clubhouse located at 37 Elkin Street in downtown Sonora.

Tickets are $25 per person and can be ordered by mailing checks to Aronos Research Club, 37 Elkin Street, Sonora, CA 95370. Please include a name, phone number and the number of guests you are bringing. Joyce Drush, Event Chair, can also be called at 209-770-1294 for reservations or questions.

“Join us for a fun and relaxing afternoon filled with savories, scones, treats, favors, door prizes, and raffles,” Drush said. “While dining and visiting with others, you will enjoy the live ‘Yankee String Band’ playing English Country music and more!”

The tea will include a performance by the Just Tappin’ With Bonnett dance troupe, choreographed by Bonnett Saussol. The tap dancing, with performances by her and her dancers, has been a popular tradition at the annual teas.

“We hope to see everyone at our fabulous spring tea. Tickets are limited so get your tickets today!” Drush said.

Proceeds from the tea benefit the Aronos Research Club scholarships fund for local students pursuing nursing or teaching careers.

The Aronos Research Club was established in 1915 and purchased the clubhouse in 1936. The members provide a variety of community services including monthly dances, weekly exercise programs, hosting Coffee With A Cop and conducting weekly History Mystery Walks.

The historic Aronos Clubhouse, first built in 1902 as a church, is available for rent. Enquiries can be made to Shelly Stewart at (209) 770-1144 or by emailing aronosresearchclub @gmail.com.
