Contestants must live within Calaveras County. Proof of residency required.
Competition is for vocalists only. Contestants may sing a cappella or to professionally recorded soundtracks, which the contestant must supply on a CD or thumb drive. Lead vocals on the track must have been removed. Contestant may accompany themselves instrumentally. No props, prompters or note cards may be used.
Music must be appropriate for audiences of all ages and may not include foul, gang-related, substance or alcohol abuse, racial, or discriminatory language, or sexual innuendoes, etc. Contestant must sing one (1) song of their choice. Minimum of two (2) minutes, but not to exceed a total of four (4) minutes. Overtime of any amount will result in disqualification.
The Calaveras County Fair will accept the first 10 completed contestant forms with the $15.00 entry fee. The deadline is May 1, 2024. Contestants will receive a 4-day pass to the Fair and a parking pass.
Contestants will be judged on vocal talent, stage presence and entertainment appeal. At the judges’ discretion contestants may be asked to sing a second song. The competition will be held noon on Friday, May 17, 2024. The winner will receive a trophy and $100.
