June 22 and 23 the Tuolumne County Amateur Radio and Electronics Society (TCARES) will be joining other Amateur Radio operators (Hams) across the county in an annual radio contest. The object is to make as many contacts as you can in a 24-hour period using emergency power only. We cannot use any public utility for our power so we run on emergency power consisting of generators, solar, or batteries. The event runs from 11 Am on Saturday June 22 till 11 Am on Sunday June 23 at the Mi-Wuk Fire Station located at 24247 Highway 108 in Mi-Wuk. There will signs pointing the way and the event is open to the public so we invite everyone to come up and see what ham radio is about. Ham radio is a lot of fun and is useful in times of emergencies. So everyone please come up and check us out.
